United States U-20 team fuelled by pressure and passion

Team USA’s Lindsay Horan at team practise held at Clareview Park in Edmonton on Friday August 1, 2014 in preparation for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The Americans have won three of the six U20 Women's  tournaments.
“I don’t know if it’s pressure as much as a passion to play,” Linday Horan said Friday before the team headed out for its first training session in Edmonton.

“Germany is a top team and obviously one of the favourites. We had hoped to play them at some point so to open against them will hopefully set us on the right foot, at a high level, for the rest of the tournament. We’ll have to be at our best right off the bat.” Frainch Says.
French, a silver medallist in the 2000 Olympics, took over the team on Feb. 20, 2013, and has had some turnover since the qualifying tournament. She likes the leadership on the team, which she said is born from not only the play on the field but some of the strong personalities off the field.
